Back to the Drawing Board

Okay...so magical realism didn't float my magical boat. I have a long list of books that never read. What do you want to read? Let's try again.

How to Make a Bed Last Longer

When you buy a bed, you want it to last for as long as possible. With the right information, you can buy a bed that will be reliable for years and even decades with the right care and maintenance. Join me as we take a look at some great tips.

Beds are made to last, however, they age like most things in life. The good news is that there are ways to prolong them, so they stay at there optimum for longer.

There are 2 main parts that comes to beds, and that is the frame, and the mattress. The bed frame, especially if it is a good one can last for years, and even decades. The mattress however, will likely need to be replaced every few years.

With frames there is not much you can do to keep them lasting longer. If it is a wooden bed, then you can always repair them if you want to do some DIY, should they break.

With metal frames and plastic frames it can be harder to repair them. So it can be a good idea to make sure they are sturdy and good frames when buying them.

The mattress is something we can work with. One of the biggest pieces of advice is that you should turn them over every few months.

This allows the springs to balance on both sides, and doesn't cause them too much stress. Try not to put books, boxes or heavy objects on the mattress when not in use. And don't walk on the mattress as this is a sure way to make the mattress break sooner.

Should springs come out of place, it is a good idea to smack or tap the location so the springs go back to normal. Try turning the mattress over so it can balance out, and don't use the mattress, until you fix this, but if this problem persists, then it is a sure sign that it is time to get a new mattress.

As we have dealt with the internal structure of the mattress, and prolonging it, there is the aspect of its outside or the upholstery. There is a lot that can be done here also.

For example putting new sheets on the bed often to line the bed is a great idea to keep it clean and looking new for longer.

Drinking or eating in bed is likely going to end up with getting the mattress dirty, so it is essential to eat out of bed, but sometimes the occasion can't be resisted!

Overall it is possible with minimum maintenance to be able to keep the bed lasting for longer. Should the mattress break, it will be much cheaper to buy a new mattress.

Always make sure you get the best possible bed frame when buying the bed, as it will allow you to save a lot of money in the future. All you would then need to do is to buy a new mattress when the one you have needs replacing.

A good bed frame could last for years and even decades. So it is a good idea to consider for the future.
